To prevent the repair from turning into a natural disaster, you need to draw up an estimate in advance.
We figure out how to do it yourself or check the one that the foreman prepared.
Why do you need an estimate
The estimate can be called a roadmap for your repair. It is better to issue it as an official document – an annex to the order or contract with the contractor.
First, you will know how much to spend. Secondly, fix the cost of the work – the master or foreman will not be able to exceed the budget without agreement with you.
Another plus is that if a conflict occurs and the case goes to court, you will have an argument to protect your interests.
How to make an estimate
You can make an estimate in special programs, but for individuals and beginners, regular Excel is quite suitable. The table can be arranged in several columns, for example: name, unit of measure, quantity, price and amount. Separately, you can provide a column for discounts on materials or a specific type of work.
Before calculations, it is necessary to carry out accurate measurements of the room. Often the apartment plans that are provided differ from the actual parameters by tens of centimeters.
Accurate measurements can be made using a laser tape measure or a mechanical ruler, after freeing the room from built-in wardrobes and furniture. After the repair, the space may decrease somewhat, so it is better not to order equipment and furniture in advance.
Common mistakes
Inexperienced people often do not take into account in the estimate the cost of delivery of materials, removal of construction waste, for which a special container must be ordered. Or they forget that the room may need to install meters or replace the front door.
